Traho (2020 - 2021)
Lucerne Festival, Switzerland
Poem for the orchestral piece 'Traho' by Kirsten Milenko, Roche Young Commissions 2019-21, Lucerne Festival 2021.
Traho looks to the unfathomable losses seen throughout Australia during the wildfires that raged from 2019-20. A piece of mourning (composed by Kirsten Milenko), it is set within the suspended architecture of a murmured poem, written in German and Latin by me.
World Premiere in Lucerne, Switzerland by the Orchestra of the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY

Finalist team in an international composition competition to develop The Stranger by Albert Camus for the opera stage.
Kirsten Milenko (composer), Johan Klint Sandberg (director) and I (libretto) developed the creative concept, sample scene and strategy collaboratively, drawing on queer ecology and exploring sense, guilt, morality and gender.

Our collaboration continues beyond this competition and we are now developing a new piece building on our work with queer ecologies to explore an opera about climate change.
